BSB 2022 – Silverstone National – Round 1 Summary
Results:
Friday – Test day:
- FP1: P18 Overall (P15 in class)
- FP2: P19 Overall (P16 in class)
Saturday – Qualifying / Sprint Race:
- Qualifying – P21 (P18 in class)
- Race 1 – P12 (P10 in class)
Sunday – Feature Race:
- Race 2 – DNF
Testing/Qualifying
Had a good first day here for the first round of BSB at Silverstone, unfortunately a mistake (or lack of talent) in FP1 found me sliding along the floor at Maggots on the 6th lap #fullsend. I was then a bit more cautions in FP2 on a used rear, placing me P19 in the combined results.
Qualifying wasn’t ideal as it was red flagged early and I chose to put a new tyre in, but changed too soon eventually running out of rubber towards the end of the session, but I still managed a new PB on a rear with 18 laps on it, placing me P21 on the grid.
Race 1 (Sprint Race)
I managed to get a decent start and kept on chipping away throughout the race, eventually running out of laps as I couldn’t spot my pit board! Finishing the race 12th overall and 10th in class.
Race 2 (Feature Race)
I managed to get a better start and was eager to make progress but think I went into Becketts/Maggots a little too hot and wasn’t expecting a couple of riders in front to slow down/sit up on entry, so I had to anchor on whilst entering the corner and unfortunately tucked the front, just glad I didn’t collect anyone on my travels!!
It was a similar crash to what I had in FP1, so was pretty annoyed not learning from my previous mistake but not too much damage to the bike or myself. Not the end we wanted to the weekend but still made good progress despite the spills, really looking forward to the next round at Oulton Park!
